The Bassac, originally built as a traditional Vietnamese wooden rice barge, will take you from Cai Be to Can Tho (or reverse), for a wonderful and leisurely exploration of the Mekong River and its hidden treasures. Day 1: Hochiminh – Can Tho
0730 depart Ho Chi Minh City for the drive to Can Tho. As you leave the hustle and bustle behind the scenery is gradually replaced with rice paddies and rural villages. Arrive in Can Tho in the heart of the Mekong Delta around 1100, then board the Bassac. A welcome drink will be given on arrival followed by an introduction to the ship and crew. Depart downstream along the Hau River towards Tra On floating market, lunch will be served en- route and there is ample deck space to view the fascinating scenery of the delta. Cruise into the Nicoli Canal, towards Mang Thit and the Co Chien River, along the way pass by river craft carrying everything from sand to rice, on the banks of the river admire the rice fields, sugar cane plantations and traditional monkey bridges. Visit a village on the banks of the Mang Thit River where you can appreciate the way of life here in the Delta. Back on board the Bassac a complimentary drink will be served, so why not sit back and enjoy the sunset overlooking the Mekong's magical waterways. Following dinner will be served whilst the Bassac cruises towards her anchorage for the night on the Mang Thit River.

Day 2: Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh city
A delicious breakfast will be served from 0630 whilst the boat crosses the Co Chien Canal on the way to Cai Be Floating Market. Cruise for 30 minutes through the traffic of sand and rice barges, along the way see fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards. Upon arrival check out of your cabin and transfer onto a local boat to visit the floating market. Following your driver will meet you to take you back to Ho Chi Minh City.
